Pantip has developed itself to become a platform for
voices of informed citizens
that are part of the political equation and are reported or recognized in the
mainstream media.
When the mainstream media and the ruling class were
dominating the country with
propaganda, Pantip members were among the voices competing against them.
When they found that Pantip was monitored, they used it as headquarters for
other
political movements: i.e. via mushrooming websites in which alternative news,
discussions,
internet radio broadcast and synchronous chats were embedded or linked. These
groups
developed to be communities outside Pantip, who would return to Pantip for
information
and for some occasional use, because of its connection with the broader societal
networks.
These political groups have many interesting activities, and they have been
self-sponsored,
i.e. by donation from members.
See examples below:

The name tells us a lot!

Former Prime Minster, Military General Prem, Head of the King's Advisory
Council,
is believed to have been the mastermind and influence behind the coup on Sept.
19, 2006.
His association with the royal family gave him a special status in the Thai
society, being
perceived as a humble, clean, neutral, decent statesman. Not any more!!
